How Much Does an Eye Exam Cost in Mississauga?
We believe eye care should be clear, simple, and never full of surprises. At Illusion Eyewear & Eyecare, a comprehensive eye exam is $95 for adults (ages 20–64).
If you're covered under OHIP, children 19 and under receive one full eye exam every year, and seniors 65+ are covered every 18 months with a valid Ontario health card.
We also offer direct billing to Sun Life and most major insurance providers — including Canada Life, Manulife, Green Shield, Blue Cross, and Desjardins — so in many cases, your visit may be partially or fully covered.
Your exam isn't rushed. It includes a full vision assessment, an updated prescription, and a detailed look at your overall eye health with Dr. Angela Fu — all in a setting designed to feel comfortable, calm, and personal.
DR. ANGELA FU
Doctor of Optometry
Dr. Angela Fu is a licensed optometrist in Mississauga with extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and managing eye disease. After completing the International Optometric Bridging Program at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, she became fully certified to practice optometry in Ontario.
At Illusion Eyewear & Eyecare, Dr. Fu provides comprehensive eye exams for adults and children, contact lens fittings, prescription updates, and management of ocular conditions including glaucoma, diabetes-related eye disease, and cataracts.
Patients appreciate her precise clinical care, gentle approach, and commitment to long-term eye health.
During your eye exam in Mississauga, your prescription is carefully measured to ensure your glasses or contact lenses provide optimal clarity and comfort. Understanding what the numbers mean helps you make confident decisions about your vision care.
Your eyeglass prescription might look like a secret code, but it's actually pretty straightforward once you know what you're looking at. Each abbreviation tells us exactly what your eyes need to see clearly.
1 - OD - Your right eye. Some prescriptions use RE instead—same thing, different Latin.
2 - OS - Your left eye. Some prescriptions use LE instead.
3 - SPH - Sphere measures nearsightedness or farsightedness. A minus sign means you're nearsighted (distant objects are blurry), while a plus sign means you're farsighted (close objects are harder to see).
4 - CYL - Cylinder corrects astigmatism—when your cornea is shaped more like a football than a basketball. This number shows how much correction you need.
5 - AXIS - Works with cylinder to correct astigmatism. Measured in degrees from 1 to 180, it shows exactly where that correction should go.
6 - ADD - The extra magnifying power you need for reading, usually appearing on prescriptions for bifocals or progressives. If you see this, welcome to the presbyopia club—it happens to everyone eventually.
For more detailed information on reading your prescription, visit the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Once your prescription is finalized, you can immediately explore our premium prescription lenses and browse our curated collections of women's designer frames and men's designer frames right here at Illusion Eyewear & Eyecare. If you wear contacts, learn about our contact lens fittings or visit us in Erin Mills Town Centre.
